More magical than Disney

More magical than Disney?

The Believe in Tomorrow respite house on Wisp mountain is just about as magical as Disney World.  Grace, Andrew and Cora are having the best time ever.  We are so blessed that Believe in Tomorrow offered us this opportunity to be together, as a family without work, obligations or clinic.

Cora's smile stretched from ear to ear as we headed out of Baltimore and into the mountains.  She declared "This car is fun!" for the first 45 minutes.  Then, she got tired of the car and ready to get out of her seat.  Two hours into the drive, everyone finally stopped complaining and fell asleep.  (Any vision of EVER driving to Orlando has been doused with this short three hour drive.)  As we approached Deep Creek Lake, everyone magically woke up happy and ready to explore.  There were squeals of joy as the kids explored the log house - 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 decks, and the loft.

So far we have enjoyed hiking at Swallow Falls, hiking at Deep Creek Lake, pizza, ice cream, a mountain coaster, a chair lift ride, laser tag, swimming and lots of outdoor time - all free or nearly free.  The Wisp Resort and surrounding businesses offer families of BIT lots and lots of things to make their vacation away from sickness memorable.  For a short while, Cora is a normal toddler running through the woods after her brother and sister.  She even wanted to explore the waterfall with the big kids.  When I told her no, she tried to negotiate with the only leverage she has -  "I put my mask on then go?"  (She hasn't had to wear her mask because we are just about the only ones on the mountain this weekend.) Cora has no idea she is a toddler!

While we were at the foot of Swallow Falls, a man offered to take a family picture.  As he was handing my camera back to me, he said "Your family is beautiful.  Enjoy those kids."  Good thing I had my sunglasses on so he couldn't see the tears.

I don't know what adventures we will get into this afternoon.  The sun is peeking out from behind some thick clouds.  Tomorrow, we are going into the woods again on another hike before we hit the highway to come home.

I promise to post some pictures of our trip after I get all the laundry done!!

Be CORAgeous!
